PURCHASING INFORMATION

PLANTS: All of our plants were divided from large clumps of Original Stock (OS) plants and planted in the fall.  We do not carry any Tissue Cultured (TC) plants.  In addition, every plant sold will come with a detailed description of the plant.  This description page is made from our observations of this plant growing at our nursery in Zone 5.  The description page contains information such as: Hosta Name, Parentage, Name & Date of Registration, Plant Height, Plant width, Leaf Length, Leaf Width, Plant Spacing, Leaf Margin, Leaf Color, Leaf Description, Petioles, Flower Color, Flower Shape, Flower Size, Bloom Period, Scape, Seed Pods, Pest Problems, Sun Preference, Soil Desires, Growth Rate, Comments, Awards, and References.  On the reverse of this page you will find planting instructions and hosta care.

We ask that orders be a minimum of $25.00.

PLANT INSPECTION: The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Agriculture, has inspected all plants.  A copy of the most recent certificate is available upon request.

GUARANTEE: We guarantee all of our plants to be well developed with strong root systems, properly named, and in good condition when you receive them.  With proper placement and care they should flourish and multiply.

GIFT CERTIFICATES:  Gift certificates are available on the Plant List page.  Payment for the gift certificates will be the same process as ordering plants.

ORDERING:  Visit the plant list and select the plants you wish to order by pressing the PayPal button.  The order will then be automatically sent to us.  If you wish you may send a check to pay for the order.  Print out a copy of your order to include with your check.  As soon as we receive PayPal confirmation or your check, your order will be processed.  We will confirm the plant availability and then you will receive another email indicating our shipping date.

RETURNS: We do not automatically make substitutions, but we will work with you to select something else if a variety you ordered is not available.  Please contact us by email immediately upon receipt of your order if you are dissatisfied for any reason.

If you wish to make a return, please do so by Priority Mail within five days of receiving your order.  Due to planting, environmental conditions, and winter extremes beyond our control, we cannot guarantee the long-range life and productivity of the plant after it leaves our care.

PRIVACY POLICY:  We keep your personal information private and secure. When you make a purchase from our site, you provide your name, a valid email address, address, phone number, and other miscellaneous information. We use this information to process your order, to keep you updated on your order and to personalize your shopping experience.  If you choose payment by PayPal, they have their own privacy policy.

SHIPPING: When your order is ready, the plants are removed from their contatiners, washed, and prepared for bare root shipping.  Bare root shipping is a safe and economical way to ship.  This practice is widely used in the Hosta trade.  The washed hosta roots are wrapped in wet paper towels and rolled in a layer of newspaper that eliminates damage to leaves and roots.  Over the newspaper we roll the hosta description page for your specific plant and secure the paper tube with an elastic band.  Next, we put your order into a mailing box without crushing the plant.  Often we add more newspaper to provide padding around the hostas.  When shipping plants, we always include a note at the bottom of the description page with our name, address and email address, so you can notify us when they arrive.  In cooler spring temperatures, plants can last up to 2 weeks in the box.

We prefer to send your plants so that you will receive them prior to the weekend.  We do not want them sitting in a warehouse or in an uncontrolled environment.  We mail all orders on Monday and Tuesday via U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail.  We ship early-April through the end of June and September 15 to October 15, weather permitting.  When placing an order, please specify the week you would like your plants to be delivered.   We don't want spring deliveries to be too late nor too early.

Because of California pest quarantines and the Canadian postage costs and import regulations, we do not ship to either location.
